This is a fact. There are reporters from the channels who suggested the students to tear their shirts and come before the cameras. These are all the things that happened in the campus and the public who watched these incidents was shocked. Again am not supporting the police here. I only want to let you know how the journos are behaving. Certainly except two or three all the channels and their heads are in favour of telangana and so any small incident is blown up. As one of our friends said in his posting, it is a fact that there are some journalists actively participating in the JAC events. But, when it comes to writing any such stuff i feel there are enough checks and controls at the newsroom level. I don't think a reporter will be able to resort to provoking people without the approval of his bosses. If his boss is favouring that provocation, the reporter has not much to say. So, I was only trying to tell everyone that there is no point in the reporters ganging up to submit a memorandum to the home minister or the DGP. Instead, if we think this is a serious issue, the editors should get involved instead of playing a spectator role.
Ramanakvramanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13797969316238665265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892103454419978380.post-17781102962062905622010-02-18T16:14:02.308+05:302010-02-18T16:14:02.308+05:30am sorry to differ with ramana. is it not true tha...am sorry to differ with ramana. is it not true that journalists have become activists of telangana? Is it not true that they are provoking people regarding this? who's going to control them? am not supporting the police. But my submission is that journalists are not following the ethics of journalism. then why blame some one. Come into any news paper and channel office and you will be surprised to see so many activists grouping. Let them write and report the merits and demerits of this issue. But they shud not be provocative.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892103454419978380.post-64189555622764870832010-02-18T15:12:33.135+05:302010-02-18T15:12:33.135+05:30Sailesh is self centered. His protest is part of ma...Sailesh is self centered. His protest is part of marketing himself. Right this is precisely what the leaders were doing whenever such attacks took place. The chief minister's use to parrot 'we will order an inquiry and based on the inquiry report we will take actions against the (ir)responsible'. therefore there is no point meeting the chief minister. he promised on December 8 when journalists were beaten up by police at Osmania University that here on there will not be any attack on Journalists. But it is repeated on Feb 15/16. Thats the reason why senior journalists have to go to Osmania University and some even resorted to hunger strike.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6892103454419978380.post-29716209827888171062010-02-17T20:48:28.607+05:302010-02-17T20:48:28.607+05:30Mr.KV Ramana absolutely correct in his views.Infac...Mr.KV Ramana absolutely correct in his views.Infact the Chief editors of all the print media and CEO's of electronc media should have immediately gone to CM's chambers and protested against the violence on media personnel by the police. Can the Editors,CEO's run their organisations without reportersc and camera men?Why these people went underground when the personnel were beaten by the police while doing their duty?
Infact most of the times whenever a media person is beaten by police or any other anti social element the Chief editors and management never interferes nor it represents to the government about the incident.it is the duty of the management to give compensation and bear the hospital expenditure as the reporters were injured during the duty hours only. But it is most surprising that the management and CEO's are blind, deaf and dumb to the incidents. The only way to get proper response from the management of media houses is the total pen down strike against the managemernts by all the reporters and staff of the media centres so that the management bows to the demands of the reporters.
Ofcourse media should also feel the responsibility towards the society by controlling themselves in covering sensitive issues like lathi charge, firing of tear gas shells and other violent incidents by avoiding repeated telecast of the incidents to avoid inciting the viewers for more violence.Infact there is no self censorship of the news by the editors.

JP ReddyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
