Reporters

In British Librarary there is one good book "More FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT BBC" edited by Tony Grant. In this book 94 of the programmes are given in hard copy which (some of them) we might have heard in BBC Radio.

Good ones.

"Professionalism" has to be defined for our media especially those standing before camera and stammering, hesitating, looking for words, repeating the same word over and over.

We may never reach the level of BBC. For several decades, we deceived ourselves that we do not have technology as they do. It is not the Technology, it is the attitude that makes separates us.

Today, we have 10 times more technology than what hollywood had when they made the epic film "Ben Hur". Can our movy fellows make such an epic of our mythologies on the lines of Ben Hur now?? Never!! Because they do not want to.

In movies people who became barons in tobacco, chillies, cotton and even agarbattis have come to make movies and so commercialisation is flying high and "art" is dead.

Likewise, in media, journalism is dead and commercialisation of news is ruling the roost.

I accept the lack of professionalism in our telugu channels. But, you cannot compare with BBC. BBC is international channel with lot of revenues. But these telugu channels are poor as they are regional channels. They dont have enough money to hire professional and more efficient reporters. So, I dont expect the quality of professionalism in these channels to improve unless they become non regional channels.

Nav,

I don't know anything about the money our channels have, but I would be surprised if you say that the current media personnel are paid less. I think it is just a matter of having passion for what you do. If they are willing, they can find lot of people who are ready to sweat blood and work in this industry. Please don't tell me you can't find people who have excellent oratory and presentation skills both in English and Telugu. It is just a matter of the Channel bosses finding such people, train them and give them freedom to bring innovation without compromising on professionalism and ethics. As long as your basic aim is to increase your channel's TRP ratings and make more money, quality and professionalism takes back seat for obvious reasons. These idiots don't realise that breaking that mold will only do good for them. If anyone is willing to come up with fresh and clean ideas (by "clean", I meant no violence and vulgarity) and be the pathbreaker, I am 100% sure people will turn to that channel within a matter of few months. I hope someone does that sooner than later, thus force the others to go that route.

Regards,
Abbulu

Abbulu gaaru,
Meeru cheppindi aksharala nijam. Those people are running behind TRP ratings and money. They are not realizing that money would come behind them when they concentrate on the quality of the product. Its not exaggerating to say that the objective of press has changed from news to money. In a movie there is a great dialogue which I want to re-quote here:
“Previously news used to be the objective and money is the way. But now money became the objective and news became the way.”
Kaani, ee vishayalu channel vallaki teliyadantara? Teliyochu teliyakapovachu. Telisinaa yemi cheyaleka povachu, chesina yemi vupayogam undaka povachu, asalu valla abhiprayale vere avvochu….
A+B+C+D=X ayinappudu, telugu press yokka dusthiti ‘x’ anukuntee, andulo manam A okkatee chustunnamani naa abhiprayam. Migilina B,C,D lu manaki teliyadu. Valla place lo manam undi ee migilinavi kooda telusukunte appudu correct ga judge cheyagalamemo.
Yemaataki aa matee kaani. yappatikina telugu channel lo vupayogakaramina programlu cudalani undi.
