శాంతిని పెంచండి...దైవచింతన చేయండి: పోప్

ఎక్కడలేని హడావుడి, సాంకేతికత నిండిపోయిన ఈ జీవితంలో మనిషికి  భగవత్ చింతన అవసరం ఎంతైనా ఉందని, శాంతిని పెంచాలని క్రైస్తవ మతావలంభకులకు పోప్ పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

రోమ్ లోని సెయింట్ పీటర్స్ బసిలికా లో క్రిస్మస్ సందర్భంగా భక్తులను ఉద్దేశించి మంగళవారం నాడు ప్రసంగిస్తూ..."మనకు సంతోషం కావాలి. మన పథకాలు విజయవంతం కావాలి. మనం పూర్తిగా మన గురించే ఆలోచిస్తున్నాం. మన దగ్గర ఇక భగవంతుడికి స్థానం లేదు," అని ఆయన అన్నారు. ప్రపంచంలోని వివిధ ప్రాంతాలలో పెచ్చరిల్లుతున్న రక్తపాతం, విద్వేషపూరిత పోరాటాల పట్ల అసంతృప్తి వెలిబుచ్చారు.

“The great moral question of our attitude toward the homeless, towards refugees and migrants, takes on a deeper dimension: Do we really have room for God when he seeks to enter under our roof? Do we have time and space for him?” Benedict said.

“The faster we can move, the more efficient our timesaving appliances become, the less time we have. And God? The question of God never seems urgent. Our time is already completely full.” “There is no room for him,” he added. “Not even in our feelings and desires is there any room for him. 

We want ourselves. We want what we can seize hold of, we want happiness that is within our reach, we want our plans and purposes to succeed. We are so ‘full’ of ourselves that there is no room left for God. And that means there is no room for others either, for children, for the poor, for the stranger.”

The pope also prayed for “all those who live and suffer” in the Middle East today, calling for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the end of violence “in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and their neighbors.”
